For bareboat charters, where you’re in charge of operating the yacht, most countries, including Croatia, require you to have a recognized boating license. In Croatia, for instance, you’ll need a valid license that’s recognized by Croatian authorities, like an ICC (International Certificate of Competence), and a VHF radio license for operating marine radios.
On the other hand, if you opt for a crewed charter, where a captain and crew are provided, no license is required, as they will handle all navigation and operations. It’s important to verify the specific requirements in the country where you plan to charter to ensure you meet all necessary regulations.
